General Information

Cement concrete is the largest amount of artificial cementious material worldwide, and its impact on the world economy is huge. The energy consumption involved in the production of cementitious materials is high, and CO2 emissions account for 8% of the total carbon emissions. Improving the sustainability of cement concrete has become a major issue to improve socially sustainable development. Internationally, improving the low-carbon and sustainable characteristics of cement concrete is the focus of industry attention in recent decades.


The use of calcined clay in concrete, which has developed rapidly in recent years, produces a low-carbon cement-based material. Compared with traditional Portland cement, its cement clinker content can be as low as only 50% due to the use of a large amount of calcined clay and limestone as the key components. Limestone calcined clay cement has outstanding mechanical and durability characteristics and is considered to be a global alternative to a wide range of traditional Portland low-carbon cement materials. Its application in Latin America, South Asia, and other places is gradually growing.

The conference has been held three times in Switzerland (Lausanne, 2015), Cuba (La Havana, 2017), and India (New Delhi, 2019) as an important forum for low-carbon sustainable cement concrete. The 4th ICCCSC will be held inNanjing, to focus on low-carbon sustainable cement production, performance, environmental efficiency as well as other topics to be presented in seminars. It is expected to further promote the development of low-carbon cement and concrete materials in the world and the cooperation among countries, which will contribute to the large-scale application of low-carbon cement concrete and the sustainable development of human society.

Given that high-speed railway projects are an important foundation for the construction of ‘the belt and road’, the ICCCSC has set up a special ‘Railway Venue’, focusing on green and low-carbon cement-based materials, performance and application technologies for railroad projects, which will contribute to the large-scale application of low carbon materials in railway.

Dear colleagues,
 
We would like to thank you for your contribution and support of the ICCCSC series conference. You receive this email as you are closely related to the alternations of the 4th ICCCSC-Beijing due to the uncertainty and problems introduced by the pandemic.
 
Due to the strict covid control policy of China/Beijing, it is anticipated that free international travelling will not be available in next May. Thus, the first priority of the event, i.e., face-to-face meeting/thorough discussion, cannot be fulfilled. After a careful evaluation of the situation among the organizing/consulting committees, it has been decided to move the Beijing event from 2022 to Sept. 25-27, 2023, right after the International Conference on Cement Chemistry in Bangkok, Thailand (ICCC is on Sept. 18-22). The 2023 event will be organized in Nanjing instead of Beijing, another wonderful city near to Shanghai, and an advanced industrial-scale fluidized bed combustion system for LC3 production in Subote Co. Ltd. will be demonstrated there! 
 
For those who have submitted abstracts/full papers to ICCCSC-Beijing, you can either 1) keep it for the Nanjing event in 2023, or, 2) can currently withdraw it from the website for your disposal, and submit a new one for Nanjing event later on. If you choose the second option, please do that in the Springer submission system.
